Meet Our Instructors

Kirsten Gentles

Currently, Ms. Gentles is an E Dan (2nd-degree Black Belt) and is a certified Black Belt Instructor and member in good standing with the World Tang Soo Do Association. She began her training under Master Fernandez in 2008.

Master Fernandez began his training with the World Tang Soo Do Association in 1993 under the expert instruction and guidance of Master Randy Kuehner and received his Black Belt in 1998.   He  also the WTSDA Region 8 Concession and Hospitality Suite Coordinator. 

In 2005, Master Fernandez started his own school, C&J’s Mountain Warriors in Lehighton PA.  In 2007 he bought a new building and added a 2400 square foot dojang to the building.  Today, C&J’s Mountain Warriors Karate Institute offers training for all ages from Little Dragons (ages 4-7), Youth (ages 8-12) and adults (ages 13 and up).  Training young children and children with disabilities is a passion for Master Fernandez.

In 2010, Master Fernandez was invited to attend his first World Tang Soo Do Association Masters Clinic.  This invitation is the first step of many in becoming a certified Master instructor.  After several years of testing and training, he was promoted to Sah Dan (4th degree Black Belt) in 2012 and Sah Dan Master in 2013.

Scott Gentles

Currently, Mr. Gentles is an E Dan (2nd-degree Black Belt) and is a certified Black Belt Instructor, certified Corner Judge, and member in good standing with the World Tang Soo Do Association.

Mr. Gentles began his training in Tang Soo Do at C&J’s Mountain Warriors Karate Institute (predecessor to Gentles Spirit Martial Arts) in 2008 under the direction of Master Cesar Fernandez with both of his daughters.
 
Mr. Gentles teaching experience includes working with all ages from Little Dragons (ages 4-7), Youth (ages 8-12), and adults (ages 13 and up). He also has experience working with children with ADD, ADHD, Cerebral Palsy, and Down Syndrome. He is experienced in teaching large groups as well as private lessons and running birthday parties. As owner and Chief instructor, his teaching responsibilities include creating teaching agendas, running classes, planning, hosting, and conducting Gup and Little Dragon testing and promotion ceremonies. Mr. Gentles has also continuously helped support the school, Region 8, and the World Tang Soo Do Association. He has supported countless events in a variety of capacities ranging from hospitality suites, tournament setup at Regional Tournaments and Black Belt Tests, behind-the-scenes registration paperwork, as well as serving as a Youth Black Belt Camp Counselor. He is the 2024 recipient of the Master Mark Causerano Dedication Award.

Heidi Ahner

Currently, Mrs. Ahner is a Sam Dan (3rd-degree Black Belt) and is a certified Black Belt Instructor, certified Corner Judge, and member in good standing with the World Tang Soo Do Association.

Mrs. Ahner began her training at C&J’s Mountain Warriors Karate Institute in 2010 under the direction of Master Cesar Fernandez.

Sarah Easton

Currently, Ms. Easton is an E Dan (2nd-degree Black Belt) and is a certified Black Belt Instructor and member in good standing with the World Tang Soo Do Association. She began her training under Master Fernandez in 2011.

Steve O'Donnell

Currently, Mr. O’Donnell is a E Dan (2nd-degree Black Belt) and is a certified Black Belt Instructor and member in good standing with the World Tang Soo Do Association. He began his training in 2015.

Kailee Gentles

Currently, Ms. Gentles is an Cho Dan (1st-degree Black Belt) and is a certified Black Belt Instructor and member in good standing with the World Tang Soo Do Association. She began her training under Master Fernandez in 2008.
